While the concept of remodeling isn’t new, there are always updated trends that surface each year.  According to the Normandy Remodeling Design Team, this year is all in the details — including architectural elements,   smarter storage solutions and new hardware and fixture finishes.

Multiple Projects at Once – Homeowners are in it for the long-haul. Instead of breaking out projects, they are opting to renovate everything at the same time. For example, refreshing the exterior of the home while remodeling the interior or re-working the entire first floor instead of just the kitchen. Going all-in allows all underlying issues to get addressed at once.
Adding Architectural Details – Tray ceilings and new wainscoting patterns are just a few details you can expect to see. All details have clean lines and an air of elegance and simplicity.
Making Room for an Eating Nook – It seems that more and more families are spending time in the kitchen. That being said, a small bump out for an eating nook not only creates extra dining space, but frees up the island and rest of the kitchen for other activities.
Maximizing Storage – Drawer dividers and roll outs have always been a thing. But, thoughtful storage is going one step further.  For example, adding a second beverage refrigerator frees up real-estate in the main fridge. Custom closet organization maximizes every inch of space and pull outs in your bathroom can hold smaller toiletries and cosmetic items.
A Navy Coat of Paint for Cabinetry – Move over black and white, there’s a new neutral in town. Navy cabinetry is growing in popularity. You’ll see it in plenty of 2018 kitchens.
New Hardware and Plumbing Fixtures – Brushed brass, rose gold and matte black finishes are in for 2018. They are a refresh on standard staples like polished nickel, adding a little extra glam and style.
