Empty Nester Master Bathroom Upgrade

These empty nesters were ready to create a luxurious master bath where they would love to begin and end their day. They were tired of their existing bathroom that lacked the function and style they were seeking.Sunk in tub

“While the overall space was large, the shower was tiny and cramped, and the toilet was not privatized,” said Normandy Designer Laura Barber, AKBD. “The vanities lacked the storage they desired and a giant tub took up too much of the back wall space.”

Keeping the tub along the back wall made the most sense, and now an opulent freestanding soaker tub is central to the bath.  “We were able to take advantage of the space once dedicated to the tub and install a large luxurious shower with sparkling glass accents and dual showerheads,” noted Laura.

Relocating the shower allowed for a large 2 bowl vanity with lots of drawers for storage.  double sink vanity, free soaker tubThere was even enough room to add a seated vanity table with a large mirror and great lighting. Tucking the table in its own nook allowed for a private makeup space in addition to more storage for linens.

Once the new layout was reconfigured, the design details and finishes were selected. “Beauty was important,” said Laura “but practical, low maintenance materials were a must for this space.” The custom cabinetry was selected in a timeless, flat panel door style in a soft white painted finish. The countertops and shower components are Vicostone. Chosen for its color and style, but also for its durability, never needing to be sealed.
