2012 Remodeling Excellence Award

Historic Home Remodel Wins Award

Successful historic home renovations are all about the details, and Normandy Designer Gary Cerek hit a home run with this La Grange home renovation. Decorative mouldings and details throughout the remodel were a must to stay in line with the home’s traditional Victorian roots.  After that, however, each spouse had different concerns and needs for the home that needed to be addressed as well.  For instance, the wine-enthusiast husband had a wine and beverage center on his wish list, and the wife wanted the office to be adjoining with the rest of the home for an open layout.

“We included various unique interior details such as tray ceilings with crown moldings and rope lighting. The kitchen and office areas boast custom arched cabinetry with glass display and a mix of both painted and cherry cabinetry, exuding a timeless, elegant feel,” says Gary, “We really wanted to make this home stand out as a Victorian, but also give it special features that you’re not going to find in every home.”

Industry peers agree that this project was a beautiful historic renovation that stayed true to its roots while maintaining a stately aesthetic from room to room, and the home received a Remodeling Excellence Award from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry Chicagoland.
