A Kitchen Design Fit For a Colonial Home

This colonial-style home had a large kitchen, but it didn’t meet the functional or aesthetic needs of the homeowners.  “Creating more visual interest was key in this kitchen remodel,” says Normandy Designer Jennifer Runner, AKBD.

“The three elements that really pulled everything together for this traditional style kitchen were:

1.  A warm and inviting color scheme.  We chose cherry stained cabinets and accented them with more warm granite countertop and ceramic backsplash colors.

2.  Varying the cabinet heights and depths.  In a space this size, it’s easy for cabinets to look seem bland.  The raised panel door style and stacked glass cabinetry around the main sink offer symmetry and the ideal place to display collectibles.

3.  Details, details, details.  From the symmetric design to the Ogee edge on the island countertop, the details of the kitchen remodel are what made the transformation remarkable.”
